ALBUM SAMPLE
The album alone was "drama" to make. With a constant
battle of schedules and switching of players and songwriters it seemed like
the album was doomed to never be made. In the middle of it Becca's boyfriend
of three years broke her heart and she lost her full-time job, making it
harder to make time for her passion, and even harder to get out of bed. But the band pressed on. With veterans, drummer Marcus Roberts
and guitarist Jason Bentley, as full supporters, bassist/keyboardist Todd Falcon
and lead guitarist Craig Lightfoot soon joined to finish the album. "I owe
everything to these guys. When I didn't have the drive to get it done they'd
kick my butt to keep going," she said. Drama includes the industrial-inspired title track
which says "Bring it on, it's not me who is weak" to her
backstabbers. "Just Another Girl" and "Player" exude girl power
against men who aren't willing to respect her (or women for that
matter). "I love my guy friends and I hate it when men come out and
give them a bad name. Most men are a blast and women get so paranoid
when one hurts them. That isn't fair on the others," she said.
"Better Off," the first song Becca ever came up with on guitar, asks
her love to stick around while working through the drama in her
life. "Move On" and "Wasted Time" tackle the battle of trying to get
people out of your emotional space. "It was a negative time for
everyone and it wasn't getting any better. It was unhealthy, but I
think we all came out better people because of it." The latter of
the two was a more comical take on the situation. "We wanted to
laugh it off and have something fun to show for it." "I Need Your Love" is a romantic ballad, which Becca
says she's not used to writing. "There's something about needing and
loving someone like I did at that time that had to be catalogued in
song. It was an amazing feeling. We didn't care about that past or
worried about the future. Every day counted. Sometimes relationships
get so cluttered by responsibility that it drains the love. We never
had that. It was simple." The other ballad, "Satisfied," portrays
Becca at the wedding of a man she secretly loves, imagining herself
being the bride. "Road Trip" is a song about a relationship going
nowhere. "Make You Feel Alive" is second version of the song. When
the original one fell through, Becca used the powerful, "not gonna
control me" lyrics to music later written by bassist Todd Falcon. The album also includes many extras, including two
hidden tracks, one is the theme song from the movie "Call To Fly"
that Becca, Todd and Marcus were in (as well as former guitarist
Scott YZ). The other track is an instrumental track called
"Synergy." Also included are music videos and trailers for "Call To
Fly" and the skateboarding video trailer "No Logic" which uses the
album's title track. |
